Headline: Eagles gear up after tough season

Jonathan Garcia leaps across the rope ladder during 4th period athletics on Thursday for some much needed football practice. The Eagles had a very unsuccessful season and were working hard the rest of the year to prepare for what lies ahead next year. 

Headline: Student athlete works on state record

Racing to finish withing the time limit, Jojo Featherstone dashes across the foam obstacles during a heavy workout last Thursday. Featherstone was working on his time, because recently he has been working on setting a state record in rushing.

Headline: Football player pushes himself and strives for success

Joshua Adame breaks across the rope ladder to complete an exercise during his athletics class last Thursday. Joshua was trying to prove himself and work really hard to get the coaches to notice him so he will make the varsity football team next year.

Headline: Seniors kiss the year goodbye by proving themselves

Jumping as high as he can across the obstacle, Mario Brown hustles for the exercise assigned for the athletics class last Thursday. Being his senior year, Brown wanted to finish off the year strong and prove to his coaches that his four years as an Eagle were well spent.

Prime Minister's assassination causes uproar
 Abdul Boobar of Cairo, Egypt throws a homemade water-bottle bomb during a protest in Cairo, Egypt on Sunday. The protest comes in the wake of the Prime Minister's assassination, where the shooter was identified but not apprehended.


Photo of the man:
I think the main rule the photographer used was cropping. The photographer got so tight into this man's face to just put focus on this one person and nothing else. The photographer also used rule of thirds to highlight this person without harshly putting them right in the center of the picture.

Landscape:
The photographer definitely used depth to capture this image, by capturing the horses in the foreground, then this rolling hills, then the mountains and horizon line in the background.

Ship:
I think that the photographer used the rule of background to get this image. The photographer captured the ships against an ocean and a monochromatic sky to make sure that the focus was just on the boats.

Touching People.

1. What do you think about this project and photo essay? I thought it was a cool idea to bring people together and let people have open minds about things.

2. What would you do if someone approached you with a camera and asked you to participate in a photo shoot and then asked you to touch a stranger? I would probably be a little bit confused at first, but after the situation was explained I would do it. 

3. Think of an unusual photo shoot similar to this one that you think would be fun to go and shoot. Maybe like trying on someone else's shoes, or playing with someone's hair. 

4. Finally, tell me what you thought of the photography, did the photographer think about the rules of photography that you know about? What types of photos did he take? I thought the composition was really cool, but he wasn't really worried about the rules of photography. He took portrait photos.

What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like? This one was really boring. Just a bunch of randoms where no one was doing anything.

In Dustin Snipes' portfolio I saw that one of his strength's was being right in the middle of the action in the pictures. He was shooting from a good angle and got right in there. I didn't really see any weaknesses from his portfolio.

When picking the winner, the judges went in and chose their top three portfolios and looked at the portfolios as a whole and how they were put together, and also looked at the composition of the pictures and such.

1. Describe one photo that you agree with the judges on. Explain why you and the judges do or do not like it. I agree with the judges on the picture in the No Pro/ No College video. I think that the one picture of the tennis player celebrating after her win is a good photo because it is so in the moment and honest. You can't stage a moment like that.

2. Describe one photo that you do NOT agree with the judges on. Explain why you think the judges are wrong. I disagree with the judges on the picture of the basketball player in the best student pictures. I think that the picture looks weird with the kids face and the opponent on the ground.
 

Japan Earthquake.

This photo really impacted me because it shows how damaging the earthquake was, and all the people who volunteered to help rescue their fellow citizens. The photographer used the depth and viewpoint techniques to get this photograph.

This photo impacted me by showing how devastating this earthquake was. This girl is sitting and crying surrounded by her shattered neighborhood. The photographer used depth to capture all the drama of this  photo.

 This photo impacted me because it shows such desperation in the mother's face while she talks to her daughter behind a piece of glass. The photographer uses viewpoint and balance to capture this picture.
